Enter The Grid: BSides Charlotte 2026

“I fight for the Users.”

Welcome to The Grid. In the Tron universe, programs and users navigate a digital landscape where security, identity, and control determine survival. At BSides Charlotte 2026, we’re bridging the gap between the cybersecurity challenges of our physical world and the visionary digital realm; enter – Tron.

Just as Kevin Flynn was pulled into a world where code comes alive, today’s security professionals must navigate increasingly complex digital environments where threats evolve, legacy systems persist, and the line between user and program continues to blur. Join us as we explore modern cybersecurity through the lens of The Grid, examining how yesterday’s science fiction has become today’s security reality.

  • Day 2 activities will begin promptly at 0800. No opening or closing ceremonies will be conducted on this day.
  • Lunch will be provided, a lunch selection will be facilitated by a lead to ensure you are properly accounted for.
  • Workshops can run for between 1 and 4, 6, or 8 hours.
  • Workshops that run for shorter than 5 hours may run additional workshops.
  • If shorter than 5 hours, workshops must specify the number of workshop iterations that the instructor is willing to conduct. For instance, if conducting a 1-hour training, does that training repeat multiple times?
  • Workshops must specify how many seats will be available for the workshop so we can assign the appropriate room (rooms and seats will be limited), if no limit specified, attendance will be limited to the capacity of the assigned room. Please note, depending on the facility, we may have to reduce the number of seats if they are simply not available, but we would like to accommodate the requested sizing where possible.
  • Workshops, as determined by BSides Charlotte and indicated on the schedule, will require an additional ticket purchase. This is to help offset costs for food, beverages, and venue. To be clear, a general admission ticket will NOT grant access to paid workshops unless otherwise specified on the Day 2 schedule.
  • Cost of workshops will be determined by BSides Charlotte and based on a variety of factors including size of space needed, cost to host, duration, and any additional fees.
  • Workshops may be free or include an instructor fee. In the workshop section of the CFW, please indicate if there is an instructor fee. For workshops that indicate an instructor fee is necessary, the instructor will be compensated at the agreed sum. However, instructor fees cannot exceed costs incurred, if this is the case, we simply cannot host the activity.
  • All ticket proceeds above cost to host the event will be donated to BSides Charlotte to help support future events. Please also be aware that BSides Charlotte will evaluate & select workshops based on cost & viability. If we cannot justify the expense, then the workshop will not be accepted.
