The BSides Charlotte Board has decided to expand the BSides Charlotte Leadership Team. Below, you will find the list of roles, as well as the general expectations for all of them. Roles that have a name next to them have been filled; if there is no name next to a role you are interested in, please reach out to April Jones and Kyle Fletcher (Fyrecat & QuietPirate on Discord, respectively). General Expectations for All Roles
Time Commitment:
- Varies by role and proximity to events
- Expect increased time commitment as events approach
- Most year-round roles: 2 – 5 hours per week
- Conference roles ramp up significantly 1 – 2 months before the event
- Event days typically require full-day commitment
Volunteer Nature:
- All positions are volunteer roles
- Flexible scheduling around personal/professional commitments
- Open communication about availability is essential
- Team members should notify leads promptly if unable to fulfill commitments
Communication:
- Responsive to emails and messages (within 48 hours typical)
- Attend scheduled teams meetings
- Proactive communication about blockers or issues
- Use agreed-upon communication channels (Discord, email, etc.)
Collaboration:
- Work cooperatively across teams
- Share information and resources
- Support other team members when possible
- Maintain positive and professional interactions
Documentation:
- Document processes and procedures
- Maintain records of decisions and actions
- Create knowledge transfer materials
- Contribute to organizational memory
