Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure physical safety and security of attendees, staff, and venue
  • Develop and communicate safety procedures
  • Coordinate with venue security
  • Handle incidents or emergencies

Key Activities:

  • Develop emergency response procedures
  • Coordinate with venue on safety requirements and emergency exits
  • Brief staff on safety protocols
  • Monitor event for safety concerns
  • Serve as point of contact for incidents
  • Coordinate with local authorities if needed
  • Maintain incident reports
  • Ensure Code of Conduct is communicated and enforced

Skills Required:

  • Security or safety background
  • Crisis management abilities
  • Calm demeanor under pressure
  • Clear communication
  • Situational awareness

Time Commitment:

  • Varies by role and proximity to events
  • Expect increased time commitment as events approach
  • Conference roles ramp up significantly 1 – 2 months before the event
  • Event days typically require full-day commitment
