Social Media Lead


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage all social media accounts (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Mastodon, etc.)
  • Create and schedule social media content
  • Engage with community members and respond to inquiries
  • Monitor social media trends and conversations
  • Track social media metrics and engagement
  • Collaborate closely with greater Communication & Press team to ensure successful marketing and promotional activities

Key Activities:

  • Post regular updates about events, CFP deadlines, and community news
  • Create graphics and visual content for social posts
  • Respond to comments and direct messages
  • Live-tweet or post during events
  • Coordinate with Marketing Lead on promotional campaigns
  • Report on social media performance metrics

Skills Required:

  • Social media platform expertise
  • Content creation and copyrighting
  • Community management
  • Visual design skills (helpful)
  • Responsiveness and engagement orientation

Time Commitment:

  • Varies by role and proximity to events
  • Expect increased time commitment as events approach
  • Most year-round roles: 2 – 5 hours per week
  • Event days typically require full-day commitment
